Community Employment Services

Big Lakes Developmental Center, Inc. provides an individualized process to assist people in making informed choices regarding employment goals, objectives and services. Community Employment Services are specifically designed for those persons who desire competitive employment and achievement of an earned income.

Our services go beyond placing a person in an employment setting. Individually assigned case managers work together with the individual and employment directors in determining a plan which enables the person to find and maintain successful employment in the community. Once an individual is placed in competitive employment, their progress is periodically monitored and re-evaluated to be sure that they are happy and successful in their work.

Support services are provided to assure people of whatever assistance they may require to be successful on the job. These may include skills training, coaching, counseling, evaluation, assistive technology and transportation.

Community Employment Services provide a win-win opportunity. Our Big Lakes clients are able to experience the value of service. At the same time, the employer makes a solid investment in a reliable worker. In fact, program evaluation results have shown that employers are satisfied with the service they receive through the Big Lakes Community Employment Program. Further, both parties benefit from the social interaction derived.
